Job summary

U.S. Courts is seeking a Probation Services Assistant to support probation officers with technical and administrative tasks, including compiling information for investigations and drafting reports and correspondence.

The role also involves coordinating with collateral agencies to ensure smooth operations within the probation office. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of specialized experience, strong knowledge of office procedures, and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study such as criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, human relations, business or public administration and one (1) year of specialized experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of office procedures and practices. General knowledge of personal computers and software applications to prepare reports and conduct investigation searches along with accessing the criminal retrieval system.
  • Ability to prepare all types of investigations in proper format for our office as well as other districts. General knowledge of proper grammar usage and the ability to write and edit efficiently.
  • Knowledge of the roles and functions of the federal probation office and knowledge of probation and court processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized technical and administrative support to probation officers.
  • Compile information for investigations.
  • Provide support for administrative caseloads.
  • Prepare drafts of reports and correspondence.
  • Coordinate with collateral agencies.
