State of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE seeks an experienced Probation Officer Assistant to support supervision, case planning and monitoring of high-risk offenders. You will assist with interviews, home visits, and assessments under the Chief Probation Officer’s direction.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 63 hours from an accredited four-year college.
  • Combination of education and experience acceptable.
  • Credits must be from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
  • Familiarity with probation services and related procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with probationers through home visits and office meetings; document progress.
  • Monitor offenders via electronic/GPS monitoring under supervision to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with pre-sentence investigations and evaluations of candidates for probation.
  • Prepare, update and submit reports and databases (progress updates, court paperwork, logs).
  • Perform other duties of similar nature as needed.

Responsibilities may include assisting in performing interviews for preparation of investigative reports, performing curfew checks, drug testing and assessments, and assisting offenders in retaining employment under the direct supervision of the Chief Probation Officer or designee.Location:605 South 10 Street, Ste B100, Lincoln, NE 68508Travel may be required at times.Work Schedule:Core hours are Monday–Friday daytime. As part of our 24/7 commitment to community safety, some non-traditional hours may be required.Salary and Compensation:Starting Salary: $42,863.87 annually (Hiring Rate).Immediate Growth: Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successfully completing your probation period when starting at the Hiring Rate.Starting Rate Flexibility: Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience, subject to final management approval.Please Note: Candidates approved to start above the Hiring Rate (at or above the Minimum Permanent rate) are not eligible for the 2.5% post-probation increase.Future Increases: Annual cost-of-living adjustments (applied on July 1) are subject to State Legislature approval.Job Duties1.
