Job summary

Ohio County Schools seeks an Early Childhood Classroom Assistant for PK-3 at Woodsdale Elementary School. The role runs 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. during the 2026-2027 school year, performing a broad range of aide duties to support instructional activities and student welfare.

Requirements include ECCAT authorization, WV tests for school aides, and a high school diploma. Candidates should be able to assist with special needs, classroom management, and basic office tasks.

Qualifications

• Possess ECCAT authorization as required by law.
• Current ECCATs with Permanent Authorization must take ECCAT Numeracy and ECCAT Literacy.
• One class must be taken a year.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass the approved West Virginia Service Personnel Tests for School Aide.
• Completion of a successful background check.
• Basic word processing skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to federal, state, and district laws and policies.
• Prepare student attendance and records.
• Read to students and assist with instruction.
• Assist with lunch, bus, toileting and transportation routines.
• Support teacher with classroom materials and equipment.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior.
• Assist with behavior management and crisis response.
• Keep accurate records and assist in scheduling and reports.
