Join us as a PRN Vascular Sonographer at Wellstar Health System

Wellstar Paulding Imaging Center in Hiram, Georgia, is seeking a PRN Registered Vascular Sonographer. The ideal candidate must have general sonographer experience in OB and Abdomen, be flexible with work hours, dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Responsibilities include providing safe, age-appropriate patient care by performing exams per department protocols, obtaining quality diagnostic studies, and utilizing equipment effectively for diagnosis and treatment. The role requires independent judgment, technical proficiency, and the ability to set up and operate ultrasound equipment efficiently.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Equipment
  • Adjust techniques to minimize radiation dose while maintaining image quality.
  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Maintain and disinfect equipment according to infection control policies.
Patient Care
  • Verify procedure orders and obtain complete clinical history.
  • Follow procedures for contrast media administration safely.
  • Properly identify patients and ensure correct marker use.
  • Review images for quality and respond to emergencies.
  • Assist in all modalities as needed and evaluate patient conditions.
Education and Communication
  • Explain procedures clearly to patients using AIDET principles.
  • Address patient questions and document accurately.
  • Participate in training and departmental education.
Quality Control
  • Produce acceptable images with high first-time acceptance rates.
  • Ensure equipment calibration and proper operation.
  • Document and send studies to PACS promptly.
Operations
  • Restock supplies, transport and position patients, and perform clerical duties.
  • Maintain department cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Operate workstations and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program.
  • Certifications: Registered Medical Sonographer or ARRT Vascular Sonography, BLS required.
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
