Primary Function

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide care, development, and educational services to children, under the supervision and guidance of the lead teacher (Teacher I).

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement educational activities under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
• Supervise play activities, meals, and rest time of children.
• Maintain open communication with parents.
• Prepare supplies and materials for classroom activities.
• Safeguard children’s wellness and safety; report accidents and record incident reports.
• Obtain certification to administer medication, administer medication, and document accurately. Demonstrate knowledge of care appropriate to the child's age.
• Understand principles of growth and development; assess data to identify each child's needs and provide appropriate care according to departmental policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet Virginia state requirements, including a criminal background check.
