Position Overview

As a PRN Staff Pharmacist at MercyOne, you will ensure prompt and accurate services for patients, nurses, physicians, and staff. Responsibilities include interpreting and evaluating orders, supervising pharmacy technicians, dispensing medications, and maintaining accurate records. You will also provide medication information and supervise the preparation of medications, including IVs and controlled substances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review medication orders for clarity, appropriateness, and safety.
  • Consult with physicians and nursing staff for clarifications or changes.
  • Supervise the preparation and dispensing of medications.
  • Interact with interdisciplinary teams and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Manage inventory and maintain proper documentation.
Schedule

Varies according to department needs, typically 8-hour shifts on a rotating day/evening schedule.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and licensure in Iowa.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and respond to emergent situations.
  • Proficiency with computers and good interpersonal skills.
