Job summary

Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to examine, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, and hearing disorders. You will develop individualized therapy plans and monitor progress in collaboration with the rehabilitation team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
• BLS Certification and active state license or CFY eligibility.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develops individualized speech therapy programs based on thorough evaluation of patient’s receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation, and auditory skills.
• Monitors patient progress during therapy, records relevant information regarding therapy, and maintains frequent communications with rehabilitation team members; attends weekly team conferences.
• Adapts conventional speech and language therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or follow a regimen of therapeutic exercises.
• Regulatory/Quality: Observes and adheres to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures; follows safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement programs to foster the provision of quality health care services with compassion, understanding, and respect.
• Communicates with patient and family members about progress, home programs, and the therapeutic process.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
