Job summary

Alliance Family Health Center, Inc. is seeking a sonography professional to provide OB/GYN and general ultrasound services. The role requires patient education, high-quality imaging, and strict adherence to HIPAA and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has ARDMS credentials or ARRT in Sonography, BLS, and 5+ years of experience. You will operate ultrasound equipment, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Registry by Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) preferred.
  • Multiple ARDMS credentials within 1 year.
  • BLS required.
  • Completion of formal training in Ultrasound program accredited by the CAAHE
  • 5-year preferred sonography experience.
  • CPR Certified or required within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be computer literate to complete tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sonographic services and ensure proper quality controls.
  • Operate sonography equipment to record and produce images of anatomy.
  • Explain ultrasound procedures to patients to improve comfort.
  • Prepare patients for exams and observe during procedures for safety.
  • Notify physicians of abnormalities immediately.
  • Scan patients and adjust equipment to optimize images.
  • Triage equipment malfunctions and report repairs.
  • Follow safety policies and HIPAA rules.

Job description

Responsible for providing patientservices through sonographic procedures. Performs OBGYN and Generalultrasounds per physicians ‘orders. Utilizes appropriateultrasound instrumentation for procedures and demonstratesknowledge of equipment operations, applications and scanningtechniques resulting in optimized image data/documentation.Participates in safety and quality control as related tosonography. OB/GYN sonography requires knowledge in second andthird trimester experience, General ultrasounds (i.e. Abdomen,Renal, Small Parts.) Evaluate sonographs for technical quality.Provides patient education and instruction as directed by theprovider. Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate actionand initiates life support measures. Maintains patientconfidentiality. Maintains clinical area.

JOB DUTIES:
  1. Perform sonographic services andensure proper quality controls are maintained.
  2. Operate sonography equipment torecord and produce images of composition, shape and motion, blood,tissue, or body masses.
  3. Interact positively withmultiple patient populations and their families.
  4. Explain ultrasound procedures topatients so they feel comfortable with the experience.
  5. Prepare patients for exams andobserve during procedures to ensure their comfort and safety.
  6. Notify physicians of anyabnormalities or concerns immediately.
  7. Scan patient and observe screento make sure the image is satisfactory and make equipmentadjustments as needed.
  8. Select correct equipmentsettings and adjust to get the best angles and sites.
  9. Troubleshoot and resolveequipment malfunctions and report repair needs as necessary.
  10. Follow safety policies that areapplicable to the job, recognize potential issues and institutemeasures to prevent complications.
  11. Perform ethical and legalduties, such as obtaining written consent, preparing incidentreports, or reporting signs of neglect/abuse.
  12. Practice sterile procedures andprevent cross contamination.
  13. Maintain cleanliness and orderof workstations, rooms, and equipment.
  14. Follow HIPAA rules to protectpatients’ confidentiality and privacy.

EDUCATION, TRAINING &EXPERIENCE:
  1. Registry by Diagnostic MedicalSonographers (ARDMS) is preferred (AB, OB/GYN) but will accept ARRTin Sonography (S).

  3. BLS required.
  4. Completion of formal training inan Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditationof Allied Health
  5. 5-year preferred sonographyexperience.
  6. CPR Certified or required within6 months of hire.
  7. Must be computer literate tocomplete task(s) as required.
SKILLSREQUIRED
  1. Able to evaluate and correct (ifneeded) radiographic images.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS:
  1. Normal space, ventilation, andnoise levels
  2. Ability to stand on feet forseveral hours.
  3. Must possess sight/hearingsenses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to functionadequately so that the requirements of this position can be fullymet.
  4. Must be able to get up and downout of chair frequently throughout the shift.
  5. Must be able to lift 40lbs.
  6. Must be able to verbalize welland possess manual dexterity to type and/or write legibly.
