Job summary

State of Missouri – St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – South seeks a PRN Sign Language Interpreter to support Deaf clients within a long‑term inpatient setting.

This part‑time, non‑benefits eligible role covers interpreting across multiple clinical activities during the typical work week. The interpreter will assist in screening, treatment planning, psychotherapy, group sessions, substance use counseling, crisis management, and visits with guardians or family, in collaboration with the Deaf

Qualifications

• Must have prior experience providing care for clients diagnosed with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or intellectual developmental disorders
• Must be willing to work up to 19 hours a week, no more than 1039 annually, as needed
• Interpreters for mental health assignments shall be licensed and certified in the state of Missouri
• Certification level of Comprehensive or Advanced; preference for Introduction to Mental Health Interpreting training

Responsibilities

• Interpret during screening, assessment or re-assessment to determine eligibility or plan modification
• Interpret during treatment planning or discharge planning meetings, or preparation for such meetings
• Interpret individual psychotherapy/psychoeducational sessions
• Interpret group psychotherapy/psychoeducational sessions
• Interpret individual substance use counseling sessions
• Interpret group substance use counseling sessions
• Interpret ad hoc crisis management involving Deaf clients and visits with legal guardian/family
