Job summary

The City of Alexandria seeks a PRN Senior Therapist for Emergency Services to perform crisis assessment, intervention, and psychiatric stabilization for residents in crisis within Alexandria city limits.

The position requires a Virginia clinical license (LCSW, LPC, LSATP or Psychologist) or license eligibility, with licensure expected within one year; shift work includes days, evenings, overnights and weekends; some telework hours may be available.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in human services and a related clinical credential.
• Active Virginia license or license eligibility in psychology/social work/substance abuse field.
• Ability to obtain Virginia license within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Interview clients in crisis and determine disposition based on psychiatric evaluation.
• Assess need for immediate evaluation or referral via phone/telehealth.
• Provide liaison/outreach to community agencies and law enforcement.
• Maintain clinical records in accordance with regulations and city policies.
• Provide crisis intervention and coordination with the CSB and Police Department.
