Job summary

The State of Missouri Department of Mental Health, Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center, located in Farmington, MO, is seeking positive, energetic Security Support Care Assistants to provide services as part of one of our innovative nursing service teams to mentally ill forensic clients in a high security setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of care and treatment in secure environments including basic nursing and emergency treatments.
• Ability to work with clients with mental illness and various disabilities.
• 0-1 year of experience (substitutions may be allowed).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, treatment, and security for forensic clients in high security areas.
• Assist with activities of daily living (feeding, bathing, dressing, etc.).
• Assist in checking vital signs and recording fluid intake/output.
• Report on client condition and maintain records.

• Provide direct care, treatment, and/or security of forensic psychiatric and/or sex offender clients in high security areas
• Accountable for assisting clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks.
• Assist in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned
• Collect and maintain records of fluid intake and output
• Report on the condition of clients
• May perform internal environment of care checks or perform some security-related functions in a mental health care setting

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge of the general care and treatment of clients in a maximum or intermediate security environment, including basic nursing, first aid, and emergency treatments. Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric population. Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed.
• 0-1 year of experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
