Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting with the protection, security, and promotion of safety at a Memorial Hermann Hospital campus.

Job Description

Responsibilities include monitoring assigned areas, controlling access points, responding to security and emergency situations, and ensuring safety policies are followed. The role also involves completing reports, maintaining equipment, and supporting the community through compassionate service.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Licenses/Certifications:

• Certified Healthcare Basic Security Officer by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (must obtain within 6 months if not certified upon hire)
• Licensed as a Commissioned Security Officer by the Texas Department of Public Safety (must obtain within 90 days if not licensed upon hire)
• Valid driver’s license (if out of state), or obtain Texas Driver’s license within 90 days
• Certified in Heartsaver CPR or Heartcode BLS CPR by the American Heart Association (must obtain within 90 days if not certified upon hire)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written
• Proficiency in computer use

Principal Accountabilities

• Monitoring assigned areas to ensure security visibility and safety
• Controlling access to buildings and parking areas; reporting hazards and breaches
• Managing visitor and material passes
• Understanding and following hospital policies and procedures
• Responding to security and emergency situations; assisting patients, visitors, and staff
• Completing security reports and maintaining equipment
• Ensuring safety and adhering to organizational policies and standards
• Supporting professional growth and departmental goals
• Providing compassionate, personalized care and service
• Performing other duties as assigned
