Qualifications

• Completion of course for surgical technicians or extensive on-the-job-training.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating rooms for surgery, using appropriate techniques.
• Provides technical services and assists in operating room and outpatient clinic as assigned and directed.
• Maintains established departmental policies, quality improvement, safety and infection control standards.
• Prepares rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
• Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures.
• Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.
• Drapes patients for procedures and maintains instrument counts.
• Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning; restocks supplies.
• Maintains and cares for equipment and documents maintenance and repairs.
• Orients and trains assigned personnel; maintains department records and files.
• Assists other nursing team members and participates in educational programs.
