Position Summary
The Acute Care Registered Nurse (RN) provides inpatient nursing care to patients in compliance with the SC Nurse Practice Act and organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines. The RN demonstrates clinical competency utilizing evidence-based practices and research in all areas of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. The RN demonstrates thorough knowledge of therapeutic patient care, patient advocacy, clinical pathways/care maps, team dynamics, hospital systems, and serves as a resource for support associates. The RN will collaborate with leadership in developing and implementing the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s culture, Mission, Vision, and Values. Associates are encouraged to engage and support Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s involvement in the communities we serve.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an approved / accredited School of Nursing
- Experience: Novice to expert nurse
- License/Registration/Certifications: Current RN licensure in the State of South Carolina or Compact State; BLS – may secure certification post-hire; linked list of certifications required post-hire based on nursing unit/assignment

Core Job Responsibilities
- Basic computer skills and competency in utilizing electronic health records
- Document all aspects of patient care following established charting procedures
- Adhere to system required standards of behavior and proper chain of command
- Meet continuing education requirements and ensure compliance with clinical expectations of regulatory agencies (DNV, DHEC, CMS)
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and hospital staff
- Respond appropriately to Facility Alert, Medical Alert, and Medical Emergency Systems
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise patient care plans based on holistic needs
- Provide a safe environment for patients
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team to determine priorities and treatments
- Coordinate and provide patient teaching activities
- Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to improve outcomes
- Seek assistance to complete nursing interventions ensuring positive patient outcomes
- Demonstrate competencies for new equipment, procedures, and annual validations
- Guide clinical staff and students
- Complete orientation and annual competency programs
- Plan for personal professional growth and participate in policy development
- Serve on committees and perform assigned duties
- Prioritize nursing interventions based on patient severity and needs
- Assess and evaluate patient histories, diagnoses, and diagnostic data
- Manage multiple patients effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate professionally with diverse patient populations, including those confused or uncooperative
- Use nursing standards and protocols to manage emergencies
- Ensure continuity of care through sound decision-making
- Support organizational goals and patient experience initiatives
- Participate in rounding, shift reports, and huddles
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and policies
- Maintain standards of care, clinical pathways, and milestones
- Perform other duties as assigned
