Position Summary

Under general supervision, the RN demonstrates and utilizes knowledge and skills to provide direct age-specific and culturally appropriate patient care through the nursing process. The role involves serving as a clinical resource, participating in patient and staff education, demonstrating leadership, and serving as a preceptor. Employees are encouraged to support Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s community involvement.

A PRN Nurse will work on an as-needed basis.

Unit Description

4 Heart is a 32-bed cardiac stepdown unit caring for patients with chest pain, congestive heart failure, and those requiring surgery for heart, vascular, and thoracic conditions. The unit also manages post-op open-heart patients. Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 or 1:4, with a charge nurse available on all shifts. This unit is ideal for those eager to learn within a broad patient base and who enjoy teamwork.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Baccalaureate Degree preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience required for PRN work.

License/Registration/Certifications

  • Current R.N. licensure in South Carolina or a Compact State.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS and PALS/NRP as determined by unit patient demographics.

  • Document all patient care aspects following established procedures to track progress or changes.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to determine priorities and treatments.
