Role Responsibilities

1. Provide direct patient care using the nursing process, adhering to scope and standards of practice.
2. Perform care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
3. Document patient care accurately.
4. Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
5. Assist patients with activities of daily living such as hygiene, nutrition, and mobility.
6. Coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support.
7. Evaluate learning needs and educate patients and families appropriately.
8. Advocate for patients' physical and emotional well-being.
9. Perform other duties as assigned, including duties of CNA, MA, or LPN when necessary.
10. Participate in staff meetings, training, and committees.
11. Adhere to policies and procedures of Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas.
12. Work scheduled shifts, including overtime and call schedules.
13. Maintain professional appearance and comply with dress code.
14. Handle occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens responsibly.
15. Report to the Director of Skilled Care.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

Associate's degree required.

Required Skills

Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and stress management skills.

Certifications

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.

License

Current Registered Nurse license in Tennessee or a Compact State with proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
