Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital in Cleveland, OH, is seeking a pediatric Emergency Department RN to provide direct nursing care in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment. You will support a team of board-certified physicians and skilled nurses, implementing care plans and facilitating swift patient flow for urgent pediatric cases.

The role requires ADN or BSN, active RN license, and at least two years of related pediatric ED experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN).
• Current state RN licensure.
• Two years' recent related nursing experience.
• Pass competency assessments.
• Military RN experience considered.
• BLS/ACLS/ENPC/PALS certifications preferred.

Hillcrest Hospital’s Pediatric Emergency Department provides pediatric care services in child-friendly waiting rooms where they have more privacy and comfort. This department is staffed 24/7 with board-certified, pediatric emergency medicine physicians, as well as nurses who are certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and pediatric trauma care. The Pediatric Emergency Department has a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) unit which provides children who are victims of assault, abuse or neglect with private care, utmost respect, compassion, complete physical assessments and, if needed, collecting physical evidence. The Emergency Department also has Child Life Specialists who help reduce anxiety for children and their families and provide guidance and emotional support.

As RN in this unit, you will use your comprehensive skills and expertise to ensure patients have the care they need quickly. You will have the support of your fellow caregivers assisting you, offering a cohesive, encouraging and constructive front to enhance the patient's experience and your skills as a nurse.

A caregiver in this position PRN (as needed) variable shifts with one weekend within a six-week period and 2 holidays per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• External applicants must have two years recent related nursing experience.
• Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience but post orientation /90 day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval.
• Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments
• Will consider military RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within one year of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $43.00

Maximum hourly: $43.00
