Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is looking for a PRN RN to join the Emergency Department at Main Campus in Cleveland, OH. You will provide direct nursing care, implement care plans, monitor patient status, and support discharge planning.

Qualifications

  • RN licensed in the state of Ohio (RN).
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
  • BLS, ACLS, ENPC and PALS certifications required or obtained within 24 months.
  • Experience in acute care is preferred; military RN acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care in the Emergency Department.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient conditions.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and educate patients/families.

As RN in the Emergency Department (ED), you will help patients feel comfortable, at ease and supported while receiving treatment. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within one year of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
