Description: Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse for our Same Day Surgery unit as needed. The PRN RN is responsible for planning and evaluating services in the OPSU/PACU, demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary for providing pre and post-operative care for ambulatory patients. Care provided is appropriate to the age of the patient, including pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics.

Qualifications:

• Essential Functions:

• Plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates services in the OPSU/PACU according to hospital policies.
• Promotes high-quality patient care with no deviations.
• Utilizes effective cost containment strategies daily.
• Manages patient care in the OPSU and/or PACU effectively.
• Assists in developing and updating nursing care plans for ambulatory surgical patients.
• Provides psychosocial support to patients, families, and staff.
• Discusses operational concerns with CRNAs and anesthesiologists as needed.
• Maintains supplies in accordance with departmental needs.
• Participates in PI projects and reviews incident reports to implement improvements.
• Performs rapid assessments differentiating between short and long-term patient needs peri-anesthesia.
• Documents patient data, interventions, and responses accurately and timely.
• Educates self, patients, families, and team members; participates in preoperative assessments.

• Job Requirements:

• Education: Graduate of an RN program required; BSN preferred.
• Licenses: Current PA nurse license or multistate license required.
• Experience: Medical/Surgical experience preferred; Critical Care experience for PACU preferred.
• Skills: BLS certification required; ACLS and BTNC or equivalent within specified timeframes; computer skills; strong communication; ability to work independently.
