Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers (RMCC) is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to float between Aurora and Centennial. The role focuses on administering chemotherapy and related medications under physician supervision, with emphasis on patient assessment, education, and accurate documentation.

The RN must hold an active state license, BLS, and typically has at least two years of nursing experience, preferably in oncology. OCN incentive pay is offered after 90 days or upon certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program with RN license.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience; oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under the direction of a physician.
• Maintains knowledge of drug reimbursement procedures and completes chemotherapy charge forms.
• Obtains pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms prior to therapy administration.
• Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance and proper documentation.
• Assesses patient and labs to modify dosage in consultation with the physician.
• Performs venipuncture and accesses implanted ports and central lines.
• Delivers medications with correct dosage, route and timing.
• Educates patient/caregiver on pump use at home and documents in chart.
• Communicates interventions to the physician and triages patient calls.
• Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching materials.

Overview

Salary Range: $36.00-46.00

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certification, etc.

Nurses with OCN certification are eligible for OCN Incentive Pay after 90 days of employment or upon obtainment of certification.

Responsibilities

• Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage.
• Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, including problems and symptom management.
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
• Administers all medications using correct medication product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
• Displays appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy and medications to include, but not limited to, venipuncture, central line access and infusion devices, programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery, and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home.
• Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.
• Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician.
• Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
• Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.

RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Must maintain continuing education requirements.

Minimum two years nursing experience required, oncology experience preferred.
