Department: GCHSWF Critical Care Transport Team

Work Type: PRN

Shift: Shift 3 / 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM

Pay Rate: $39.78 / hour + shift differential

The Transport RRT will provide safe, timely, high-quality care during the transport of neonatal and pediatric patients, as well as other patients requiring transport as determined by the transport medical directors. Perform all duties outlined in the Registered Respiratory Therapist-Critical Care job description. Provide family-centered care to infants from birth through pediatric patients during inter-hospital transports. Initiate emergency protocols independently, following ACLS, PALS, NRP, and STABLE guidelines. Practice in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards; operate within protocols and order sets for the transport program reviewed and approved by medical directors. Communicate effectively with team members. This role functions as an expert resource for direct care across the system and supports all staffing levels. Responsibilities include delivering respiratory care such as therapeutic treatments, oxygen therapy, arterial blood gas analysis, ventilator management, airway management, and high-risk deliveries, including intubation with proper certification.

Requirements
  1. Education: Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree required to perform duties as a Technical Consultant.
  2. Experience: Three years of critical care experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and/or Neonatal Critical Care Unit, or three years of Pediatric Emergency Department experience, including 2000 hours in a level 2-3 NICU. Critical care transport experience preferred.
  3. Certification: BLS required. Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as an ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist) or NPS (Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist) as required by the specialty. ACLS, PALS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required as appropriate. Intubation certification required.
  4. Additional Certifications: ATLS and C-NPT preferred (required within the first year of employment).
  5. License: Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist required.
  6. Other: Completion of the Transport Team Training Program, a 20-hour transport course, and annual competencies or education as assigned. Computer literacy, strong written and verbal communication skills, and completion of iSTAT training are required.
