What the PRN Registered Nurse does at Worldwide

The PRN Registered Nurse (PRN RN), under the guidance of the Associate Director, Clinical Conduct, and the Medical Director, is responsible for protecting the health, safety, and welfare of research participants by adhering to local, state, and federal regulations, Worldwide Clinical Trials policies, and the Nurse Practice Act. They will assist in setting up and overseeing procedures, performing study-related procedures, and administrative duties as needed. The PRN RN works under direct supervision and provides direction to Floor staff, including Paramedics, Phlebotomists, and Research Technicians.

What you will do
  1. Function as WCT’s medical coverage in emergencies for subjects visiting WCT, following the Medical Director’s standing orders, alongside on-duty Paramedics. Review and report findings to leadership and ensure accuracy of study builds.
  2. Read, interpret, and clarify protocols for all clinical studies conducted at WCT. Act as the primary contact for subjects when the Clinical Research Coordinator is unavailable.
  3. Collaborate with the Manager, Clinical Study, and Study Coordinator to ensure procedures follow protocol.
  4. Assist with quality checks on source documents related to the study.
  5. Help develop physician orders, dose criteria, and safety parameters in conjunction with supervisors and investigators.
  6. Support ongoing quality improvement by identifying training needs and ensuring completion.
What you will bring to the role
  • Ability to perform basic nursing assessments and procedures.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adaptability and excellent problem-solving skills to predict and manage issues.
Your experience
  • Required: Associate’s degree in nursing, current licensure/certification, and a minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, current licensure/certifications, 2-3 years supervisory experience, and 2 years of clinical research experience.
