Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System, Liberty Hospital, is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to deliver professional nursing care in a fast-paced environment. You will assess, document, and participate in planning and evaluating patient care, coordinating with families and the health care team to ensure quality outcomes.

Ideal candidates have a nursing degree, current RN license, BLS certification, and at least 1 year of RN experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • ADN required as minimum nursing qualification.
  • BSN within 5 years of hire where possible.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care through assessment and documentation for patient comfort and well-being.
  • Carry out a plan of care aligned with unit competencies for the target patient population.
  • Coordinate care delivery and education with patients, families, and health care team to ensure safe, effective care.
  • Follow organizational policies to maintain safe patient care.
  • Maintain the professional, clinical and technical competencies of the assigned unit.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as required and may vary by department.

Position Summary / Career Interest

The PRN Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients; carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population; coordinates care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care; follows organizational policies in providing safe patient care; performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate Associate Degree Nursing Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) within 5 years
  • 1 or more years as a Registered Nurse
Required Licensure and Certification
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing Kansas or Missouri (or compact license)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
