Job summary

AdventHealth in Riverview, Florida seeks a Radiologic Technologist to join our diagnostic imaging team. You will perform radiographic procedures, ensure high-quality images, and maintain patient safety in a fast-paced environment.

Required: ARRT RT, CPR, 1+ year post-certification experience, and proficiency with EPIC/PACS. Day-Shift, PRN schedule with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable in Diagnostic Imaging including Surgery and Trauma.
• Post-certification radiologic technologist experience preferred.
• One year post-certification experience is required to evaluate/instruct students.
• Ability to analyze data, techniques and equipment operation for accuracy.
• Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and x-ray equipment operation.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, providers, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Move and position radiographic equipment to complete procedures safely.
• Perform direct patient care duties within technologist scope, including monitoring and infection control.
• Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and safe; perform routine safety checks on equipment.
• Notify personnel when inventory is low and assist with stock management.
• Cross-train into advanced modalities as needed.
• Follow ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure for patients and staff.
• Perform radiographic imaging procedures that meet department standards.
• Position patients/equipment and select technical factors for timely, safe imaging.
• Document imaging with correct patient demographics in EMR/PACS.
• Assist patients during procedures, ensuring comfort, safety, and privacy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and others of diverse backgrounds.
• Moves, positions, and manipulates radiographic equipment to complete requested procedures safely.
• Performs direct patient care duties within the technologist’s scope of practice, including monitoring patient condition, transporting patient, and using proper infection control techniques.
• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Cross-trains into advanced modalities as needed.
• Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, distance and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patient and staff.
• Performs radiographic imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality images that meet department standards.
• Positions patients and equipment, selecting technical factors to produce radiographic images safely and in a timely manner.
• Performs imaging with correct patient demographic and examination information.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Assists patients during procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and privacy, in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging to include Surgery and Trauma [Required]
• Previous Radiologic Technologist experience [Preferred]
• One year post certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers [Required]
• Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately [Required]
• Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray producing equipment, if applicable per facility [Required]
• Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry [Required]
• Able to fully use all Radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment [Required]
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
• Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval [Required]
• Patient care skills to care for Infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations [Required]
• Must be able to independently perform radiographic procedures to departmental standards [Required]

• Ability to learn and use radiology software packages such as EPIC, PACS, etc. [Required]
• Maintain responsibility for all required registries and licenses to perform Diagnostic Imaging [Required]
