Job summary

Munson Healthcare is seeking a PRN Radiologic Technologist for its Urgent Care Clinic in Traverse City, MI. The role is part-time with Day/Night shifts and PRN coverage, including some weekends.

You will perform diagnostic imaging, ensure patient safety, and support department operations. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, adhering to ALARA radiation safety standards, and providing high-quality patient care from arrival to discharge.

Qualifications

• ARRT radiography certification or eligibility and active licensure per state requirements.
• BLS certification required; maintain current status.
• Experience as Staff Technologist preferred but not required.
• Vaccination as per Munson Healthcare policy (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella and flu season).
• Ability to operate and maintain radiology equipment safely and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Follow ALARA principles and radiation safety standards; ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Perform diagnostic imaging procedures and select appropriate technical factors.
• Position and transfer patients; assist physicians with contrast media and sterile procedures.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms; prevent cross-contamination and document appropriately.
• Rotate shifts and departments as needed; participate in continuing education and professional development.

A Day inthe Life

• Ensure Safety & Professional Conduct: Follow all safety guidelines, use proper body mechanics, report unsafe conditions, maintain a professional appearance, and adhere to radiation safety standards including ALARA, collimation, and patient shielding.
• Provide High-Quality Patient Care: Care for patients from arrival to departure, communicate respectfully, ensure patient comfort and safety, properly transfer and position patients, and assist in emergencies or first aid when needed.
• Perform Diagnostic Imaging Procedures: Operate radiology equipment safely, choose proper technical factors, select and load imaging cassettes, produce high-quality radiographs, and assist physicians with contrast media and sterile procedures.
• Maintain Equipment, Rooms & Records: Keep exam rooms clean and stocked, prevent cross-contamination, handle equipment responsibly, report malfunctions, and complete related clerical tasks including documentation as required.
• Support Department Operations & Ongoing Learning: Rotate shifts and departments as needed, take on-call duty, assume delegated responsibilities in the absence of leadership, and participate in continuing education and professional development.

What’s Required

• Must have passed or is eligible for the examination of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography. Continued employment is provisional based on completion and certification by the ARRT within six months. Registered technologists must be in good standing
• Previous experience as a Staff Technologist preferred, but not required
• Previous experience in any Radiology subspecialty desirable, such as Special Procedures, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, MRI, CT or Ultrasound
• Maintains BLS certification with biannual renewal

Schedule: This position is not full-time; per diem or as needed. Variable schedule/hours.

Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella. MHC also requires all employees to receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
