Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for a PRN, part-time role performing radiologic procedures and ensuring patient safety and optimal imaging quality. Licensure and registrations are required, with BLS due within 90 days and ARRT registration within 6 months of hire.

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, imaging principles, radiation protection, and strong patient communication and care abilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation physics and protection, and the principles of imaging.
• Skill in the use of imaging equipment.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Ability to comply with radiation protection practices.
• Ability to alleviate patient anxiety.

Responsibilities

• Performs radiographic procedures to produce images of internal body organs and bones.
• Explains procedures to patient, obtains and records medical history relevant to the condition being viewed, selects appropriate equipment settings, and positions the patient in a manner to facilitate optimum imaging results.
• Views images to determine quality and forwards for review and interpretation; maintains applicable patient documentation.
• Maintains adequate supplies and a clean work area; reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Assumes responsibility for patient safety; provides physical and psychological comfort to patient.
• Ensures compliance with workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and/or infection control practices.
