Job description

Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a PRN Radiation Therapist to join our team. This position will support our Willowbrook Radiation Center in Houston, Texas.

Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country, with approximately 600+ providers across 220+ sites in Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. Our mission is to make high-quality cancer care accessible to all communities, enabling patients to fight cancer at home with the support of loved ones. We utilize leading-edge technology and research to deliver evidence-based cancer care, aiming for more breakthroughs and victories. Annually, Texas Oncology treats half of all Texans diagnosed with cancer.

Responsibilities

What does the Radiation Therapist do?

The Radiation Therapist, under direct supervision, administers radiation treatments to patients, ensuring precise positioning and accurate dose delivery. Adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Essential duties include:

  • Delivering and recording radiation treatments under the supervision of a radiation oncologist and chief radiation therapist.
  • Entering and maintaining patient treatment data in electronic medical records.
  • Participating in clinical instruction for new therapists and students.
  • Assisting with patient appointment scheduling and billing.
  • Cutting blocks and making custom molds accurately when applicable.
  • Completing simple MU calculations and interpreting computerized treatment plans.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Graduated from an accredited radiation therapy technology program.
  • ARRT certification and a valid state license for radiation therapy.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

The physical demands include sitting, using hands, occasional standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Vision and hearing should be corrected to normal ranges. The work environment is typical for a healthcare setting, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
