Qualifications

  • Unrestricted RN license in the state.
  • 1-3 years' experience in PreOp/PACU.
  • Current BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications.

Surgery Center of Chevy Chase, is seeking a motivated PreOp Pacu Registered Nurse to join our team. Bethesda Chevy Chase Surgery Center is a fast-paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.

Job Summary: The PreOp RN is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patients’ condition, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. Experience in supporting in specialties such as Orthopedics, ENT, General Surgery, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, and Urology is preferred.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Deliver direct and indirect patient care according to established standards, considering age and risk factors.
  • Act as a patient advocate, meeting physical and psychological needs.
  • Perform patient assessments and reassessments upon admission and regularly thereafter, documenting findings for care planning.
  • Communicate nursing interventions and patient responses to responsible practitioners, documenting all aspects of care.
  • Take emergency calls as assigned.
  • Maintain sterile techniques and practices.
  • Coordinate care across settings and disciplines.
  • Implement physician’s orders safely and effectively.
  • Use special precautions when caring for sedated patients.
  • Provide relevant patient status information during transfers.
  • Document all records according to policies and procedures.

Pay range: Min: $42.42 - Max: $53.59

Note: Wages are determined based on qualifications and experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Unrestricted RN license in the state
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • 1-3 years' experience in PreOp/PACU
  • Experience in an ambulatory surgical center preferred
  • Current BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient management
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques
  • Ability to adapt quickly to patient condition changes
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
