Job summary

Riverside Health System is seeking a physical therapist assistant (PTA) to implement an individualized program for patients with acute and chronic conditions, under supervision of a physical therapist. You will help maximize quality of life, and collaborate with other health professionals and staff across the care team.

The role involves following the plan of care, performing PTA procedures, assessing patient needs, and documenting progress.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree PTA (CAPTE) required.
• 1 year PTA experience preferred.
• Licensed PTA in Virginia upon hire; CPR/BLS within 30 days.

Overview

A staff Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) carries out an individualized program for patients with acute and chronic health conditions to maximize their quality of life and achieve their functional goals. The PTA will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff.

What you will do

• Follows the plan of care and performs PTA procedures as allowed by referral to aid in restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disabilities.
• Perform services planned, delegated and supervised by the Therapist.
• Assesses patients' needs and status by analyzing evaluated data and interprets information, identifying age-specific needs and providing care accordingly.
• Assists and participates in the training and support of all team members, volunteers and students.
• Records patients' progress and reports the results of each treatment to the physical therapist.
• Treats patients through exercise, massage, gait and balance training, and other therapeutic interventions.
• Provides patient education on interventions.

Qualifications

• Education: Associates Degree, Physical Therapy Assistant (Required) or Program Graduate, Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) (Required).
• Experience: 1 year Physical Therapy experience (Preferred).

Licenses and Certifications

• License: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire (Required).
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days (Required).
