Job summary

Beaufort Physical Therapy in Beaufort, NC is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to join our outpatient clinic. You will implement therapy programs and follow recovery plans to restore and enhance patients' physical abilities.

You will perform manual therapy, exercises, modalities, document progress, and collaborate with the PT and Clinical Director. A focus on patient-centered care and education is essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a PTA role or related field
• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical Therapy Assistant program
• Current licensure as a PTA or ability to obtain it in North Carolina
• Outpatient setting experience preferred
• CPR certification in place or ability to obtain

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by established protocols and patient care guidelines.
• Responsible for timely documentation, including daily notes, progress reports, and incident reports.
• Administers active and passive manual therapy and modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/cold, etc.).
• Applies traction to relieve neck and back pain.
• Instructs and assists patients in learning functional activities and daily living tasks.
• Observes and reports patient responses and progress to the PT and Clinical Director.
• Fits and trains patients in braces, prostheses, and assistive devices.
• Collaborates with PT staff to plan and coordinate treatment programs.
• Measures ROM and vital signs to evaluate treatment effects.

Job Description

We are seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to join our outpatient clinic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in implementing physical therapy programs and activities, following developed recovery plans and delivering therapy treatments. Your ability to address the whole patient and see them as individuals is crucial, as is your understanding that your goal is to execute a program to restore, reinforce, and enhance their physical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by established protocols and patient care guidelines.
• Responsible for timely documentation, including daily notes, weekly workers' compensation reports, progress reports, and incident reports.
• Provide comprehensive patient care, administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.
• Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain.
• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in learning and improving functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.
• Observes patients during treatments, compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress, and reports orally or in writing to the Physical Therapist and Clinical Director.
• Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
• Confers with members of physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
• Measures the patient’s range of joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine the effects of specific treatments or to assist the Physical Therapist in compiling data for patient evaluations.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience, recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant or the ability to obtain it in North Carolina.
• Previous experience in an outpatient setting is preferred.Current CPR certification
• Exercise, sports rehab, and manual-based skills.
