What The PRN Phlebotomy Technician Does

Along with other technicians, performs study procedures, following Worldwide Clinical Trials (WCT) procedures and study protocols. Works under supervision of the Supervisor, Medical Group, and may be indirectly supervised by the Floor Monitor. Not responsible for supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Represent WCT professionally when interacting with sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and colleagues.
• Perform phlebotomy at scheduled intervals, ensuring participant comfort and safety.
• Properly label specimens and document procedures.
• Perform procedures such as vital signs, ECGs, skin testing, breath alcohol tests, and sample collection as trained.
• Restock supplies and perform administrative tasks as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized procedure area and dispose of supplies according to OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Good customer service skills, ability to perform duties accurately and quickly.
• Organized with attention to detail and willingness to perform repetitive tasks.
• Competent in drawing blood; some knowledge of lab procedures and equipment use.
• Graduate from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program or have relevant experience.
• Preferred: 6+ months phlebotomy experience, certifications, or lab technician experience.

Physical and Mental Demands

Includes lifting 5-50 lbs., standing, walking, and exposure to biological hazards. Requires reading, math, concentration, communication, and flexibility.
