Qualifications

• Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification through ASCP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood and other specimen collection and processing procedures in a competent manner that minimizes repeats and patient complaints.
• Properly identifies patients before collection and explains procedures to patients.
• Completes patient registration and test order data entry as required.
• Labels, transports or stores collected specimens accurately and promptly.
• Communicates professionally with internal and external customers via phone, pager or in person.
• Interprets inpatient and outpatient test orders to determine collection time and specimen type.
• Performs point-of-care testing according to standards.
• Assists with records management to comply with regulatory requirements.
