A Phlebotomist serves patients by identifying the best method for retrieving blood; preparing specimens for laboratory testing; and packing and shipping procedures. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include verifying test orders by comparing information with requisition forms, verifying patient identification, obtaining blood specimens by performing venipunctures, maintaining specimen integrity using aseptic technique, tracking collected specimens, maintaining quality results by following department procedures, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, resolving unusual test orders by contacting Natera’s mobile phlebotomy team, updating job knowledge through educational opportunities, enhancing the phlebotomy department reputation by accepting ownership for new requests, handling PHI in paper and electronic form, updating job statuses and tracking information in Skedulo, completing training relating to Procedure Policies within 30 days of hire, maintaining current status on Natera training requirements, completing missing information on requisitions, managing logistics and printing patient reports, answering billing questions and triaging, and scheduling pick ups from courier services such as FedEx or Medspeed. QUALIFICATIONS include National Phlebotomy Certification depending on state, minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience, preferred RN/BS/BA degree, and required High School Diploma or equivalent. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES include ability to serve and protect the mobile phlebotomy community by adhering to professional standards and regulations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT include working in a mobile/remote setting with scrubs and closed-toed shoes, proper PPE including facemask, hand hygiene, and gloves, and tracking each draw.
