Job summary

ScionHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to provide distributive pharmacy services and support for the registered pharmacist in a hospital setting, including preparation, dispensing, IV packs, inventory, and patient records.

You will assist in preparing medications, processing records, and ensuring accurate labeling, dosing, and stock management while maintaining HIPAA compliance and professional growth within a long-term acute care environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepares labels for bottles.
• Fills orders with correct medications; prepares unit of use dosage when possible.
• Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patient, computes charges, and enters data in computer.
• Prepares intravenous (IV) packs.
• Generates required reports; pick i.v., production reports. Performs backup procedures correctly.
• Maintains i.v. refrigerator temperature log.
• Receives and stores incoming supplies.
• Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
• Returns medications to stock and rotates stock. Fills requisitions from Nursing floors in a timely fashion.
• Ensures proper dosing for age groups Adult and Geriatrics.
• Maintains cleanliness and sterile techniques as required.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information according to HIPAA.

Job Summary

• Provides distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the registered pharmacist.

Essential Functions

• Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.


• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepares labels for bottles.


• Fills orders with correct medications. Prepares unit of use dosage when possible.


• Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patient, computes charges, and enters data in computer.


• Prepares intravenous (IV) packs.


• Generates required reports; pick i.v., production reports. Performs backup procedures correctly.


• Recycles product as appropriate. Changes prep and expiration date on recycled product.


• Dates times and initials all vials for reuse.


• Prioritizes work (i.e. stats made first). Delivers IVS to proper locations. Restocks shelves and rotates stock. Properly disposes of non-recyclable solutions.


• Maintains i.v. refrigerator temperature log.


• Receives and stores incoming supplies.


• Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.


• Returns medications to stock and rotates stock. Fills requisitions from Nursing floors in a timely fashion. Can calculate appropriate medication doses based on patient's age Adult and Geriatrics.


• Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. (Preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

• PHRMTECH-R - Registered Pharmacy Technician or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy required, where mandated by state law. Upon Hire (Required)

Experience

• 1+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy setting (Preferred) And


• Combination of Education and Training in the basic understanding of the role of and use of a computer in the processing of prescription orders with minimum word processing skills (Preferred)
