Job Details

The PRN Pharmacy Technician obtains new patients’ clinical and prescription plan coverage information, reviews new prescriptions, and/or prescription updates. This position is compliance-critical and requires specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements.

Pharmacy Hours of Operation:

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Closed on weekends & holidays.

Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for creating a patient profile in the pharmacy information system.
  2. Enters necessary prescription plan information in the patient profile for processing and adjudicating prescriptions.
  3. Responsible for entering all new patient prescription information into the pharmacy information system.
  4. Addresses insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists.
  5. Participates in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
  6. Retrieves and prepares medication for pharmacist review and verification.
  7. Prepares inventory reports for pharmacist review to purchase medications.
  8. Submits, receives, and manages inventory stock.
  9. Answers inbound calls and triages them appropriately.
  10. Assists with reviews of adjudicated prescription claims to ensure appropriate reimbursement and follows up on claims deemed inappropriate.
  11. Provides required information for therapeutic consultations with patients.
  12. Intervenes with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues.
Education:

Typically requires a minimum of two years of progressively responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Pharmacy technician certification from a national organization such as PTCB or equivalent is required. State certification is acceptable if it meets or exceeds national standards.
