Job summary

J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center is seeking a PRN Pharmacist to join an interdisciplinary team dedicated to safe, efficacious, and cost-effective medication therapy for patients in the Savannah area.

The PRN Pharmacist will review prescriptions, ensure accuracy, and help manage drug interactions, storage, and dispensing in accordance with policy and legal requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy School is required.
• PharmD or equivalent experience.
• Licensure in the State of Georgia or eligibility is required.
• Proficiency with QS1 or other medication data systems.
• Strong communication with medical staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Reviews prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
• Assesses identity, strength, or purity of medications and dispenses as prescribed.
• Maintains pharmacy records, patient profiles, and control registries.
• Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for packaging, labeling, and proper disposal of pharmaceuticals.

J. C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center is a federally qualified community health center which exists to provide patient-centered primary health care services to the medically underserved residents of the greater Savannah-Chatham County, Georgia community.

Position Overview:

J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center is seeking to add a PRN Pharmacist to our existing interdisciplinary team. The PRN Pharmacist functions as an active member of the interdisciplinary clinical team. The PRN Pharmacist acts to ensure safe, efficacious, rational and cost-effective medication therapy for the patients of the Health Center.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Reviews prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability. Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
• Assesses the identity, strength, or purity of medications. Compounds and dispense medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or overseeing these activities.
• Maintains records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
• Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy School is required
• PharmD or equivalent experience
• Licensure in the State of Georgia or eligibility is required
• Basic knowledge and proficiency of QS1 or other medication data system, with any additional computer skills a plus
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with the medical community
• Ability to establish and maintain professional relationship with patients
• Good oral and written communication skills
