$32.67 - $64.13This is a PRN position supporting Florida Oncology and Hematology in Naples and Ft. Myers.JOB SUMMARY:The PET/CT Technologist I (PET Tech) reports directly to the Radiology Team Lead. The PET Tech accurately interprets physician orders, administers radiopharmaceuticals (RPH) and/or contrast materials, and prepares and operates PET/CT Scan equipment to ensure proper images are obtained. Their primary duties include acquiring quality diagnostic PET/CT images in accordance with prescriptions and SOPs while ensuring patient safety through ALARA principles and standards of care. Image acquisition involves identifying the correct patient, escorting them to the scan room, assisting onto the scanner table, positioning, acquiring images, and assisting with exit procedures. The PET Tech provides a caring environment for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring high-quality image documentation and recognizing deviations from prescribed scans. They communicate effectively with patients and family, explaining procedures and risks, and observe for reactions to radiopharmaceuticals, reporting any issues promptly. The PET Tech documents all procedures accurately in the EMR, assists in related procedures, recognizes imaging artifacts, and performs daily and weekly QA checks on equipment, including the Hotlab. They participate in quality improvement programs, troubleshoot issues, and assist with billing procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Previous Experience: At least one year of active experience as a PET/CT Technologist is required. Recent graduates of accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology programs who are eligible to sit for the registry may be considered. Passing the Nuclear Medicine or PET Registry exam within 6 months of hire is required for recent graduates.
