Unit Description:
The Stepdown unit is a 16-bed unit specializing in the care of ICU Stepdown patients. This unit cares for complex medical-surgical patients, cardiac patients, stroke overflow, sepsis, and other diagnoses, including patients requiring management of cardiac drips or closer monitoring. The Stepdown unit provides central monitoring services to Gateway Hospital and The Heart Hospital. Our nurses receive training in ACLS, NIHSS, Basic Dysrhythmia, 12 Lead EKG, and Stepdown Standards of Care. The unit offers a variety of experiences in a learning/teaching environment, with an excited and motivated staff. Teamwork is essential on this busy unit as we provide high-quality patient care.
