Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides high-quality, patient-centered care, performing basic nursing functions and activities of daily living under RN supervision. The PCT supports a clean, safe environment, complies with hospital policies, and adheres to State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

Responsibilities include:
  • Implementing nursing care plans and assisting with patient care.
  • Recording patient information such as vital signs, intake/output, and other data.
  • Assisting with mobility, transfers, discharges, and proper body mechanics.
  • Collecting specimens and ensuring label accuracy.
  • Helping patients with daily activities and changing linens.
  • Serving as Monitor/Telemetry Tech as needed.
  • Engaging in best practices to enhance patient experience, including safety rounds and communication techniques.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred: 1+ years in an acute care setting.
  • Kansas CNA license or completion of HCA PCT Essentials training.
  • BCLS certification required upon hire; training may be required for those without hospital experience.
