Job summary

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is seeking PRN Patient Care Techs for the Normandy Park Emergency Room in Jacksonville, FL. Nurses guide you as you perform essential patient care tasks during 2–3 shifts per week, including weekends.

Ideal candidates are licensed CNAs in Florida or will obtain licensure within 30 days, with BLS certification and 1 year of acute care experience preferred. Training on Crisis Intervention is required within 90 days of start date.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a CNA in Florida highly preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• RN Nursing School Students may be considered.
• A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• 1 year of acute/hospital experience is preferred. Emergency Room or Urgent Care experience preferred.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, calorie counts, simple dressing changes.
• Answer patient call lights and respond to needs/requests.
• Assist with activities of daily living: bathing, grooming, feeding, mobility.
• Safe patient handling: turning, transfers, devices, ambulation, restraints alternatives, oxygen, suction.
• Record information in patient medical records.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses and care team about changes in patient condition.
• Educate patients and families on care and therapies.
• Monitor unit and patient room supply levels and restock as needed.
