Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital is seeking a PRN Outpatient Pharmacist to support daily pharmacy operations by filling and verifying prescriptions and performing chart reviews. You will contribute to medication safety and patient service while collaborating with the pharmacy team.

The role requires current pharmacist licensure or eligibility, immunization/ACLS/PALS credentials or willingness to obtain within stated timeframes.

Qualifications

• PharmD or B.S. in Pharmacy from an accredited college.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist or eligible for reciprocation within 90 days of hire.
• Immunization certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire if required.
• ACLS or PALS certification or willingness to obtain within one year of hire.

As a PRN Outpatient Pharmacist, a caregiver in this role will support daily pharmacy operations by filling and verifying prescriptions, conducting chart reviews and assisting with inventory management. The caregiver will work collaboratively with the pharmacy team to ensure safe, efficient medication dispensing and provide high-quality service to patients and caregivers.

A caregiver in this position will work PRN. Shifts are Monday-Friday, 2:00pm-7:00pm and 8:30am-4:30pm. Saturday, 9:00am-1:00pm. A minimum of 1 to 2 shifts per month is guaranteed, including one weekday and one weekend day.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide pharmacy services and ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders.
• Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services.
• Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
• Contribute to medication safety initiatives.
• Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
• Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards.
• Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences.
• Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.
• Be accountable for drug use policy adherence.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• PharmD or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire.
• For individuals required to administer immunizations:currentBasic Life Support (BLS)certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• For individuals required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events: currentAdvancedCardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or PediatricAdvanced Life Support (PALS)certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross or willing to obtain within one (1) year of hire.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience.
• Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a specialized pharmacy practice area (i.e. Critical Care, Oncology).
• Board certification.

Physical Requirements

• Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
• Must have normal or corrected vision.
• Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $67.00

Maximum hourly: $67.00
