Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (Required)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
• Surgical Technologist Certification or approved training program (US Army/Navy/Air Force)

Responsibilities

• Supports patient rights and upholds the ethics of the organization.
• Recognizes signs of intraoperative complications and reports to the surgical team.
• Maintains employment record free of discipline per policy during current performance review cycle.
• Completes competencies in at least 3 surgical services or subspecialties.
• Attends Operating Room Preceptor course annually. Attends one conference or course related to patient care in the operating room every year (or completes 6 CEUs).
• Facilitates the continuum of care by collaborating to provide patient care that is appropriate for the age and developmental level of the patient.
• Participates in improving organizational performance by completing a major department project within the department every year.
• Maintains one area of responsibility in the department and participates in managing environment of care. Manages information appropriately and participates in surveillance, prevention, and control of infection.
• Completes departmental and hospital annual mandatory education prior to the end of the current performance review cycle.
