Job summary

Methodist Hospital Texsan in San Antonio, TX seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room on a PRN basis to join our surgical team. You will evaluate patients preoperatively, assist in the perioperative process, and participate in sterile technique and patient safety protocols.

Required is Texas license with at least 6 months OR experience, BLS, and ability to take call. We offer a supportive environment with continuing education and a collaborative interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
• Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.
• Current RN license in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact; must obtain Texas license within 60 days of hire.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient including IVs, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, time out, and universal protocols.
• Respond to patient emergencies with high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team including providers, surgeons, and techs.
