Job summary

The Laurel at Vernon Hills Memory Care in Vernon Hills, IL is seeking a compassionate Cook to provide nutritious, appetizing meals for residents, including those with special diet needs. This PRN/on-call role supports the community with flexible coverage.

You will follow menus, ensure food safety, assist with events, and maintain dignity and privacy for residents. Candidates should have at least a high school diploma and 1 year cooking experience; English proficiency required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year prior cooking experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve quality meals for all residents, including those with special diet needs.
• Follow menu program or approved substitutes to meet nutritional needs and preferences.
• Ensure plate presentation is attractive and appetizing for residents.
• Assist in planning and coordinating special events for marketing and activities.
• Continuously monitor and address resident concerns and preferences.
• Adhere to proper food handling and sanitation guidelines.
• Ensure residents are provided privacy, respect, and dignity.
• Follow standard precautions and infection control procedures.
• Complete state required training upon hire and annually.

COOK (Cooking Experience Needed)

Shift is PRN meaning to fill gaps when needed including weekends.

Responsibilities of the Cook
