Job summary

Patient Plus Urgent Care, part of the Point of Care Health Group, Hammond, LA, seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner for PRN coverage. You will handle patient appointments, perform routine examinations, collect histories, and coordinate with the care team to keep EMRs up to date.

The role requires LA licensing, NP/PA degree, ACLS/BLS/PALS, strong clinical judgement, and excellent communication. Flexible scheduling supports urgent care needs.

Qualifications

• Licensing as required by the State of Louisiana.
• Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program with board exam.
• ACLS/BLS/PALS certification(s) required.
• Demonstrates medical decision-making.
• Knowledge of nursing theory and practice to provide patient care.
• Ability to apply nursing principles to patient care.
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
• Ability to maintain quality control standards.
• Ability to interpret tests.
• Strong interpersonal skills and clear communication.
• Initiative and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Initial assessment of new patients.
• Record and sign all pertinent information in the chart.
• Interview patients and record chief complaint, history, medications, vital signs.
• Perform examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Observe and report patients' condition and response to drugs.
• Maintain infection control and OSHA/CLIA compliance.
• Document information in EMR and discharge patients as needed.
• Answer patient questions during and after visits.
• Participate in continuing education and maintain confidentiality.
