PRN Nurse Practitioner
In and Out Urgent Care has current openings for PRN Nurse Practitioners at our Uptown/Metairie, and Covington/Mandeville locations. Must be able to work at multiple locations as needed.
The Nurse Practitioner reports directly to the Lead NP at each location.

REQUIRED HOURS/DAYS: Minimum of 48 hours per month, 1 weekend a month, 1-2 minor/ major holiday a year with the exception of Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Easter, and thanksgiving due to being closed. Must be able to take 12 Hour Shifts. 7a-7p and 8a-8p weekdays
Responsibilities
- The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with designated physicians and healthcare team members to provide medical care to patients in the Urgent Care Center.
- Delivering the highest standard of care in the diagnosis and management of a respective population and participating in the implementation of patient education and clinical support programs to ensure optimal care throughout the healthcare continuum.
- Collaboration with supervising manager and physicians for direct patient care and supervision.
- Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent and non-urgent.
- Select, order and perform tests and procedures to augment physical exams.
- Define/document differential diagnoses and list most likely diagnoses.
- Document orders in the EMR (Docutap) system for tests, procedures and the implementation and management of therapies.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as deemed necessary and appropriate for the plan of care, in collaboration with supervising manager.
- Oversee, direct and support on-site laboratory, x-rays, and injections.
- Interpret data and diagnostic results for an appropriate course of action including but not limited to blood work, radiology, EKG, in collaboration with supervising physician.
- Perform procedures such as incision and drainage of abscesses, simple orthopedic splinting, pelvic exams and suturing of skin lacerations.
- Notate findings and treatment course in patient chart including follow-up notes.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 2-3 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN URGENT CARE, ER or PRIMARY CARE
- 2 YEARS of MEDICAL OFFICE or EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT EXPERIENCE
- Suturing (actively suturing 2+ years)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master’s degree
- Must be licensed in the State of Louisiana as FNP
- Must have current APRN license in the State of Louisiana.
- Skilled in traditional nursing disciplines of patient assessment
- BLS/ACLS/PALS certification
- Required to work 1-2 holidays a year with availability days, evenings, and weekends to rotate at both locations
