Job summary

Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care in Springfield is seeking Advanced Practitioners (PA/NP) to provide urgent care services across a broad range of acute conditions. You will assess patients, document histories, order tests, diagnose, prescribe medications, and manage minor injuries with sutures or splints.

Strong communication and EMR proficiency are essential. Required are a Bachelor's for PAs or a Master's for NPs, 2–5 years of post-residency experience, and national certification with active state

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
• Master’s Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
• 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience
• 18 months minimum experience in applicable setting
• Adult and pediatric practice experience preferred
• National Certification (ANNC or AANP) and active state licensure
• Experience in Urgent Care or Emergency Department settings
• EMR experience and basic suturing, splinting skills

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat patients
• Take patient histories
• Order and interpret tests and X-rays
• Diagnose and prescribe medications
• Treat minor injuries with sutures, splints, or casting
• Document progress notes and follow-ups
• Educate and counsel patients
• Coordinate care and refer when needed
• All other duties as assigned

GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) in the Springfield area.

Advanced Practitioners provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections.

Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

Job Requirements

• Education Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
• Master’s Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
• Work Experience 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required
• Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required
• Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
• Required Licenses/Certifications National Certification (ANNC or AANP) Active state medical licensure
• Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc.
• Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills Strong communication and customer service skills

Essential Functions

• Examining and treating patients
• Taking patients’ medical histories
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
• Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
• Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
• Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
• Educating and counseling patients
• Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
• Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
• All other duties as assigned
