Job summary

Vail Health in Colorado is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a PRN/as-needed role. You will perform Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT exams, prep radiopharmaceuticals, and ensure patient safety and quality protocols.

You will collaborate with radiologists and care teams, maintain equipment and records in HIS and PACS, and uphold HIPAA standards while providing compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of Nuclear Medicine experience required.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB) and/or ARRT(N).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.
  • Must have working knowledge of English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all Nuclear Medicine and PET examinations according to Vail Health protocols.
  • Complies with the State of Colorado for radiation safe practice in the handling of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, sends completed examinations to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Monitors supply inventory and notifies appropriate staff for ordering when stock is low. Keeps exam and dressing rooms stocked and neat.
  • Identifies each patient and reviews exam order for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis.
  • Maintains constructive collaborative communication with patients, families, physicians, co-workers and other members of health care team to contribute to continuity of care.
  • Maintains department policies and procedures, confidentiality, quality assurance, safety, environmental standards, radiation protection standards, infection control standards, and universal precautions.
  • Maintains working knowledge and use of the Vail Health HIS and PACS computer systems to ensure quality patient documentation.
  • Role models the principles of a Just Culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
