Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in nuclear cardiology/nuclear medicine required.
  • Must hold CNMT and/or ARRT(N) certification.
  • Ability to follow NRC, State, DOT, and JCAHO regulations.

Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) has an outstanding opportunity for a Per Diem Nuclear Cardiology Technologist to join the Nuclear Cardiology team and work alongside some of the best medical providers in Philadelphia.

Summary

The Nuclear Cardiology Technologist performs nuclear cardiology testing on patients, handles, injects, and records radionuclides within Radiation Safety and NRC/DEP and DOT guidelines, and scans and processes studies using nuclear cameras and equipment.

Accountabilities

  • Accurate calculation, recording, and injection of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Skillfully acquire and process nuclear scans.
  • Knowledge and ability to QC and use all nuclear equipment – hot lab, cameras, etc.
  • Comply with all regulations – NRC, DEP, DOT, JCAHO, infection control, universal precautions.
  • Respond efficiently and correctly in emergency situations.
  • Observe patients during procedures and report any unusual occurrences.
  • Position, scan, and process patients/studies on nuclear equipment and perform quality control.
  • Assist providers in reading nuclear studies and administering pharmaceutical stress agents.
  • Perform IV placements using proper techniques and precautions.
  • Participate in and perform research studies when required.
  • Assist with supply management (ordering, unpacking, storing).

Minimum Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/GED required.
  • 2+ years experience in nuclear cardiology/nuclear medicine.
  • Associate's Degree in a medical/healthcare-related subject preferred.
  • Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine training Program.
  • CNMT and/or ARRT(N) certification required.
  • American Heart CPR certification required.

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to place IVs and perform injections properly.
  • Knowledge of NRC, State, DOT, and JCAHO regulations.
  • Ability to operate and perform quality control on nuclear equipment.
