Job summary

Hickory Trail Hospital, a behavioral health facility just south of Dallas, seeks a PRN Mental Health Technician to join our patient treatment team. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the MHT provides care and implements therapeutic interventions tailored to each patient’s plan of care.

Responsibilities include direct care and supervision on the unit, maintaining boundaries, and performing patient safety checks.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include high school diploma or CNA; or degree in social work, recreational therapy, or related field.
• Minimum one year of related psychiatric care experience preferred.
• Must maintain valid Texas driver’s license.
• CPR certification within 30 days of employment; trainings may be during new hire orientation.

Hickory Trail Hospital, an 86-bed behavioral health facility located just south of Dallas, has been providing quality health care to the residents of DFW since 1988. Hickory Trail Hospital provides inpatient and day treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults. Our professional staff individualizes care to uniquely fit the intensity and severity of each client's case and their family's needs. Position Summary

The Mental Health Technician (MHT), under the direction of a Registered Nurse, is an active member of the patient treatment team and will provide care to patients . The MHT implements the therapeutic interventions developed by the treatment team for each patient and maintains awareness of patient’s individualized plan of care (including goals and interventions).

• Monitors and intervenes to maintain appropriate patient boundaries
• Conduct patient safety checks.

Qualifications

Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline.

Experience: One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the State of Texas.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion Management Aggressive Behavior Training (CPI) and Service Excellence Training and CPR certification within 30 days of employment. Certifications may be obtained during new hire orientation. MHT’s may be required to work weekends, overtime and have flexible hours.
